Below are the comparisons between Concept and Game (this could also include images from screen testing before game release). This is a comparison between Concept Art and Design and in Game Art and Design, the comparables used are Aliens v Predator 3 and Aliens: Colonial Marines and after patched and original and patched and modded in DX10/11 for Aliens: Colonial Marines.

The settings are set high and don't include DX11.1 (FXAA/MLAA/TXAA) for Aliens v Predator 3 and for Aliens: Colonial Marines settings are DX9 16AF and DX10/11 for modded comparisons.

With the new patches for Aliens: Colonial Marines the improvements have been noticeable, improving both textures and lighting although shadows continue to be intermittent. Something Aliens v Predator 3 in either DX9/10/11 didn't suffer from with DX11 having improved lighting and tessellation and DX11.1 features FXAA/MLAA/TXAA improving textures and lighting further. The increased darkness in Aliens: Colonial Marines modded versions make it darker then they need to be with a flashlight improving little and there are no flares available as have appeared in the films Aliens and Alien 3 or either the games Aliens v Predator, Aliens v Predator 2 or Aliens v Predator 3.

Testing and final versions are considered different as fewer items are loaded in under testing and in some cases include many more sprites (characters) then you will find in the final version. These shouldn't be considered as final quality of gameplay because they are usually better in quality and resolution.

There would be few improvements in Aliens v Predator 3 as from the offset include DX10/11 options, a problem with Aliens: Colonial Marines but with modded version options improving textures but having an adverse effect with lighting. These are not official as official releases include patches and HD textures.
