Plot[]
The Alien Blaster Target Set used H.R.Giger's designs with the artist Norem's artwork. Developed by HG Toys and published by 20th Century Fox with varied and redesigned artwork for the final product from concepts, this included blacked out eyes for the Alien, lighter colours and dorsal tubes. The background of the item's artwork included the Nostromo, Derelict and the crew, this artwork was also used on Alien jigsaw puzzle a giant puzzle 3' long made by the same company.
Gameplay[]
The Alien target stood 31" tall by 15" wide. It featured head and hand targets that flipped down when hit as well as a bell in the stomach which made an errie ringing sound. Included also was an Alien "blaster" pistol which shot ping-pong balls.
Prior to the release of the Film Alien and hot on the trail of the success of Star Wars, 20th Century Fox mistakingly licensed "Alien" to mass market toy companies like Kenner, before licensing executives at Fox realized that there was no way to release the film as a "PG" movie. Soon afterwards distributing to leading retail chains like Toys R' Us, Lionel Play World and Sears to the absolute horror of parents.

HG Toys was a company known for applying licenses to their staple of role playing items, puzzles and play sets. Known for producing gun sets based on popular films in 1979 they released games to the movie Alien, and in 1980 they released Buck Rogers games amongst others.
